Spider and the fly

TONY
“We’re losing another homeless guy.”

PHILIP
“Who’s that?”

TONY
“You remember when I told you about the homeless guy up the street, the guy who was drinking mouthwash?  He’s in the hospital — has been for 3 days now. The doctors figure for sure he ain’t coming out of that hospital on his own steam, if you know what I mean.”

PHILIP
“How do you know this?”

TONY
“I spoke one of his other friends last night. The guy says that everyone’s done whatever they could to help the guy, but his insides were totally rotted out. You know, we’re just falling like flies now.”

I’m sorry about you friend Tony. Yah, the first time I heard about anyone drinking mouthwash to get drunk was when I first move out west to Saskatchewan, I used to think it was funny until I saw what it did to people. It’s such a shame that an addiction can grasp hold of someone so tightly that they would go to any extreme to serve it. I am praying for you Tony. I hope you find somewhere to hole up for the winter, they are especially tough up there. Take care and be safe.

I for one know how hard it is to live on the street. I did it first when I was six years old. I say with truth that I can’t do it again. What I’ve read in your blog is both refreshing and cause for concern but it’s good to see you blogging.

It is good to see you blogging because it gives a better, more personal view of the homeless. I can see this doing a heck of a lot of good, for you and for others. Thank you for this.
http://sundripjournals.wordpress.com/2007/09/08/homeless-during-the-holidays/ Here’s an entry I wrote a few weeks back about what can be done during for the homeless in your area. It’s written from personal experience.
